Kealia Ranch Touring

Kealia Ranch conducts all day and half day tours over its diverse terrain.  Ascending the mountain in a four wheel drive vehicle, visitors will first see Coffee, Mango, Papaya, Bamboo and the versatile native Kukui nut tree.

Plants and Trees
As the tour climbs the mountain, vegetation at the lower elevation gives way to a fine example of the native Hawaiian rainforest - replete with Tree Ferns and native plants such as I'e I'e,  Akala and also native trees - especially the Ohia.  As the vehicle continues to climb Koa and Sandalwood trees become more prevalent as do the native Pukiawe and Ohelo.

Birdlife
Birdlife you may see includes the Akepa, Akiapolaau, Alala (endangered Hawaiian Crow), Amakihi, Apapane, Northern Cardinal, Churar, Hawaii Creeper, Elepaio, House Finch, Saffron Finch,  I'o (Hawaiian Hawk), Japanese White Eye, Common Mynah, Nene, Omao, Kalij Pheasant, Ring-neck Pheasant, Pacific Golden Plover, Pueo (short-eared owl), Eurasian Skylark, Common Sparrow,  and Turkey.

Advisory
Visitors should wear a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt, walking clothes and good walking shoes.  Please be advised that walkers should have good mobility and balance as the terrain can be uneven in places.  Also, walks at higher elevations may cause shortness of breath due to thinner levels of oxygen.

Refreshments & Other Options
A box lunch, drinks and bottled water will be provided.
